Eight people were killed in a rural area of Acapulco, Mexico, during an armed attack by community guards opposing the La Parota dam project. Following the incident, over 100 police and military personnel were deployed, leading to confrontations. Three community guards were killed, and 30 were arrested, including their leader, Marco Antonio Suástegui Muñoz. Authorities seized drugs and weapons. Guerrero, known for its tourist destinations, is also one of Mexico's poorest and most crime-affected states.
