French drones, jets, commandos, kill terror mastermind

In September, it was claimed that the top Islamist terrorist, Adnan Abu Walid Al Sawari, responsible for the 2017 ambush killing four American soldiers in Niger, was killed by the French military. Al Sawari, leader of an ISIS affiliate in Greater Sahara, was also linked to the murder of six French aid workers in 2020. The French military conducted a drone strike in August, following months of operations, and confirmed his death after verifying the target. The operation involved commando assaults and drone strikes in the region between Niger and Mali, with intelligence from captured colleagues leading to the final attack.
