In July 1863, Alice, an 11-year-old girl, struggles to prove the truth of her story about Wonderland. A college scholar, Reverend Charles Dodgson, writes and illustrates a book based on her tale. However, upon receiving the book, Alice is dismayed to find her story altered and her name misspelled. Dodgson admits to taking creative liberties, which Alice perceives as a betrayal. Feeling mocked and disbelieved, Alice confronts Dodgson and leaves, vowing never to see him again.
