Rhyming Words is a free printable English worksheet for kindergarten through Grade 3 that helps students identify words with the same ending sound. Across 20 items, including 14 multiple-choice questions and 6 multiple-select questions, students choose or select rhyming words such as cat and hat, ball and fall, or hot, pot, and not. Some prompts use pictures, while others require students to compare printed words in different cases and formats. The worksheet gives students repeated practice hearing and recognizing rhyme families rather than relying only on beginning letters. It includes pairs with short vowel patterns, such as bed and web, as well as pairs such as cry and try, ear and fear, and hay and tray. Teachers can use the worksheet for guided practice, independent review, or a quick check of early phonological awareness. It is available as a free printable worksheet with a complete answer key.

This worksheet helps kindergarten through Grade 3 students identify rhyming words by comparing their ending sounds. Its 20 items combine multiple-choice and multiple-select formats, including picture-based prompts and word pairs such as cat–hat, red–bed, and hot–pot–not, so students practise recognizing one or more correct rhymes.
Introduce the task by saying a pair such as cat and hat aloud and asking students to listen for the matching ending sound before they look at the letters. Then complete a few word and picture items together, explaining why options such as dog or fish do not rhyme, and use the multiple-select items to reinforce that more than one answer may be correct. Finish by having students read selected pairs aloud and explain what they hear at the end of each word.
Students may choose words with a similar beginning or spelling pattern instead of matching the ending sound, such as selecting far for ear or cap for bar. In the multiple-select items, they may stop after finding one rhyme and miss the second correct choice, as in hot, where both pot and not are correct. Prompt students to say each option aloud and check every choice when the question allows multiple answers.
The worksheet is available as a printable PDF and as a digital quiz on Wayground, with a complete answer key for all 20 items. You can grade printable submissions by scanning student work with the Wayground for Teachers app, or review responses through the digital quiz. The printable format can also support schools that are reducing screen time.
Use the worksheet's Advanced Settings to adjust font spacing or increase the font size so the word and picture rhyming items are easier to scan. You can also apply a dyslexia-friendly font or translate the worksheet into another language when that supports students' access to the prompts and answer choices.
