I agree with Danque as usual. My wife lives in the delta and the people there are more than friendly. I have been befriended by so many strangers there, both adults and little kids. Their interest in you is genuine and they are fiercely loyal.

Be sure to visit one of the orchard areas, such as An Binh Island. They are simply beautiful places to have lunch and while away an entire afternoon. The food is good and fresh and the service is leisurely. After eating an amazingly cheap lunch, you can relax on a hammock.
