Laskar Pelangi’: The Audacity of Hope
This is a movie adapted from a best-selling Indonesian novel. It took 40 days of filming on Belitung Island, Bangka-Belitung province. Involving 12 local actors, it reportedly cost Rp8 billion. With all the efforts of transforming Laskar Pelangi (Rainbow Warrior) into a moving picture, will it satisfy readers’ imaginations?
Laskar Pelangi, the novel, was written by Andrea Hirata in 2005, based on his own experiences. It is about an inspiring teacher and her 10 students in the poverty-stricken Kampung Gantong in Belitung. The poor condition of their school building does not dampen their high spirits and hopes for a better future.
Two years later, the novel became a phenomenon in Indonesia literature. With its humanistic touch, Laskar Pelangi has sold more than 500,000 copies and has won the position of Must-Read Novel in every corner of the nation’s bookshops and media review pages. It has finally overcome the domination of teen-lit, chick-lit and even religious novels, the popular theme of today.
Andrea entrusted the fi lming of the story to the respected figures in the film industry, Mira Lesmana and Riza, as producer and film director. In July 2007, Mira and Riri started the per-production, which took a year to finish. Together with the scriptwriter Salman Aristo they decided to create a different scenario for the film.

My family of three went to see an early screening of the new Disney movie, ”Brave” yesterday, so I thought I would write a quick “mommy” review of the movie.
Disney definitely breaks the standard “Disney Princess” mold with this movie as Princess Merida is a fun, outgoing and wild girl that for once is not in search for the love of a prince. The characters in the movie are entertaining and I loved the way that the Scottish culture comes out in the movie. I found myself wishing for more music though, which is one of the things that I truly love about past Disney movies. I would compare this movie more with “Shrek” than a movie like “Tangled”.
As to the age of the kids that would like this movie I would have to say maybe 5 years old and up. The movie is not quite engaging enough for very young viewers, which was a little disappointing for our three years old. There were parts of the movie that our daughter enjoyed, but it is engaging enough for younger viewers in the audience and made them cry, so be forewarned of this if you are bringing children under the age of five years old.
I’ve always been a big fan Disney movies so on a 5-star scale I would rate this 4-star movie. It’s definitely not a favourite, but I give it four star for the relationship that build between Merida and her mother. I think this offers a great lesson to appreciate your family and truly listen to each others need and concerns.
What does the reviewer think of the movie?
It is definitely not the favorite
It has a good music composition
It is the same as the other Disney movies
It does not have any lesson for the children
It gives a bad impression of a mom and a daughter

I believe there is a huge responsibility in adapting the number 1 best seller novel. The book awas certainly popular and everybody worships this work of Adrea Hirata. To be honest, I didn't expect anything too spectacular from the movie.
Laskar Pelangi is no doubt one of the best Indonesian movies. I beats the Denia: Senandung di Atas Awan and Ayat-Ayat Cinta. It is a 5-star masterpiece in Indonesia. The movie depicts social and educational issues in Indonesia particularly in remote islands. It also strongly declares that everyone needs education and be educated. There are a lot of life lessons offered by the movie.
I can't stop saying that Laskar Pelangi is a marvelous film. As a matter of fact, i can't name a flaw! The casts are perfect as many of them are leading and famous Indonesian actors and actresses. Credits to Cut Mini Theo since she brought such a strong performance as a determined teacher. Author Andrea Hirata is a genius since he successfully built a story line which is beautiful, touching and engaging at the same time. So get yourself boxes of tissues when watching the movie. Thanks to the director Riri Riza and the producer Mira Lesmana for making this movie possible. Even the author was amazed the crew's job and stated that the movie was better than his original writing. In addition, the movie exposes beautiful scenery of Belitung Island.

Harry Potter and Philosopher’s Stones
Judged by this first volume, the Harry Potter books are a fine addition to English children’s fantasy literature. Harry Potter, orphaned when his parents are killed by the evil wizard Voldemort, is taken in by his aunt and uncle, who are Muggles – ordinary, non-magical people. Harry is rather out of place there, but things improve greatly for him when goes to the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry – except that one of the staff is in league with Voldemort.
Part of the attention of Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone comes from the familiar but at the same time exotic setting of an English public school, complete with houses and schoolboy adventures, in which Harry and his friends Ron and Hermione struggle to save the world and win the house cup.
So Harry Potter and the Philosopher’s Stone will be a great Christmas present for kids who haven’t read it yet – and it is a book that adults (at least those without stunted imaginations) can read as well.

"The most eye-catching feature of the new iPhone is to the imaging capabilities: with two sensors on the rear, you can now take wider-angle snaps alongside the ‘normal’ main images. These sensors are 12MP each, and are raised from the rear of the phone in a square glass enclosure - which we’re not enamored with visually."

All and each Harry Potter series both movies and book hold a particular part in my heart. And by that means, I love it all. No, I won’t talk about the whole series. I’ll only talk about the 6th series of Harry Potter movie, Harry Potter and the Half of Blood Prince.
The movie may slightly unsatisfying for those who read the book. It’s a dark time for Harry. It’s like a cup of hot cocoa on your cold morning, but your cat breaks the cup.
Harry Potter books have been a hit and been more potent since the Warner Bros decide to bring it to life through a movie. One or two changes from the text in the film is undeniable. We all know Harry has to feel one more lost on the last movie because Bellatrix killed his God-father, Sirius Black after they talk about lives together in an entirely safe village far from anywhere. Sure it’s like a thunder strikes on the midday for Harry. As we always want happiness for Harry, many have hope that everything he’s been through will paid on the Half-Blood Prince. At the first hour of this movie, we can see Harry doing great for his Potion class even beat Hermione, thanks to the book previously owned by The Half-Blood Prince he found at the bottom of the cupboard.
But another dreary, depressing feel once again must we see on this movie as Dumbledore fall from the attic after being Avada Kedavra by his trusted man, Severus Snape aka the Half-Blood Prince. Not many things from the book were adapted. Instead, it almost entirely different. After the movie was released, you can hear some voice of disappointment roaring from some of the fans, including me.
Nevertheless, this is still an excellent movie to watch and of course worth your time. 7 stars out of 10 for the Half-Blood Prince! Don’t worry because every question and every scene missed in this movie will be soon explained on Deathly Hallows.
Question: What is the purpose of the text?
To give an evaluation about the sixth Harry Potter movie.
To analyze the story line of the Harry Potter series
To elaborate the connection between each Harry Potter movie
To retell all Harry Potter books and movies in the series
To assess the story plots and the acting in the Harry Potter movie

Question: What does the writer suggest the readers do?

We all know Harry has to feel one more lost on the last movie because Bellatrix killed his God-father, Sirius Black after they talked about living together in an entirely safe village far from anywhere.
But another dreary, depressing feel once again must we see on this movie as Dumbledore fell from the attic after being Avada Kedavra by his trusted man, Severus Snape aka the Half-Blood Prince. Not many things from the book were adapted. Instead, it almost entirely different. After the movie was released, you can hear some voice of disappointment roaring from some of the fans, including me.

What does the writer think of the music in “Brave”?
too much
too little
wild enough
demonstrative
very beautiful
Reading the three plots of Marry Higgins Clark in All Through the Night concern a stolen gold ornamental cup, a missing baby, and a will which seems to be deceitful. To solve the mystery, she revives her beloved characters; Alvirah, the former cleaning woman; and Willy Meeham, the plumber who won the lottery. They left their life in Jackson Heights, Queens, for an apartment on Central Park. The two have fun along the way solving the puzzle.
The pace is swift and the story is pure escape - totally fun Mary Higgins Clark. I admit, however, that l am still trying to know what melody of the song "All Through the Night" sounds like.
This holiday season, put aside your chores and curl up on couch with All Through the Night. When you close it you will be relaxed and more ready to enjoy the festivities. And then you might just want to tuck a copy into someone's stocking or gift bag, as well.

A Beautiful Mind is a biographical movie about John Forbes Nash Junior, mathematical genius with hard fate.
