If five people sleep in one housing unit and have a common arrangement for food preparation, they are said to form one household.

A household is composed of a mother (widow) and her two unmarried children ages 20 and 24 years old. The mother is considered a solo parent.

A single house is divided into three separate housing units, each with access from the outside. The outside structure of the house has not been altered. The HAFs of the households residing in the three housing units would have an answer of 1- single house for Field#5 – type of building/house.

The household lives in a house which they won through a raffle. Their tenurial status (Field # 9) is Code 1 - own or owner-like possession of house and lot

Julia works as a call center agent. She also performs regularly in a bar with her band. Her primary occupation should be reported as a call center agent.

Julianne was born on July 1984. Her household was assessed on January 2019. Julianne’s age should be reported as 35.

Christine wears eye glasses. However, she still finds it difficult to see, especially during night time. She should be reported as with difficulty in seeing.

JP, his father, and his four brothers work as tricycle drivers. Their family owns the tricycle units. They remit all their day’s earnings to their mother, and would only receive allowances. JP, his father, and siblings would have the following answer in Field #s 44, 45 & 46:

A household has two refrigerators. One is used for its intended purpose while the other is used as a storage for rugs and other kitchen linens. Both refrigerators are functional. The EN should write 2 in the box opposite #5 in Field#14.

A person works as an OCW in Singapore. He should be declared as a member of his household.

The members of this household are properly listed.

There are three nuclear families in this household.

Lola Dhors lives alone in the province. Her husband has passed on and she relies on her three children for her daily needs. Two of her children are already married while one is single, but all three send monthly financial support to her.  Lola Dhors’ household has only one member: herself.

Danilo is a student  who has been staying with his uncle in Pasig City for five (5) years now. However, he makes arrangements for his own meal. Danilo is included in his uncle’s household because he has been with them for 5 years. 

If the respondent gives a cellphone or landline number (Field #4), there will automatically be an answer in Field #14 - ownership of appliances/durables.

If the respondent cannot recall the month and date of a member's birthday, strike out these spaces but indicate the year.

For male household members, write 2 (No) in the box for Field#26- Pregnant household member.

A household member was enrolled in a day care from 2010 to 2012. Answer for Field#16 (program and services) should be Yes.

DanLloyd Cruz studies in Manila but goes home to his family in Laguna every weekend. DanLloyd is considered a member of the Cruz household in Laguna.

Live-in couples are considered married.

If the household’s electricity has been temporarily disconnected, the answer for Field#11 is Code 1 – Yes.

The tenure status of households residing in houses awarded (to them) by an NGO, CSO, or other entities, or obtained through “rights” is 6 – rent-free house and lot with consent of owner.

For household members below 8 years old,  write 2 for Field#26 – Solo parent without asking the question.

Ms. Chubby Yee is a DSWD employee. She lives in Quezon City with her husband but spends Christmas, New Year’s Eve, and other special occasions with her family in Cavite. Ms. Yee should be included in the household in Cavite.

Household helpers, boarders, and non-relatives are both members of the household and the family.

Janna Dimagiba works as a stenographer. She also takes units for a Master’s degree twice a week. Her usual occupation should be reported as NONE because Ms. Dimagiba is a student.

Strawberry’s parents are garbage scavengers. Both her father and mother should have a reported primary occupation and their class of worker should be Code 3 – self-employed without any paid employee.

Sam works in a tailoring shop. Her daily pay depends on the quantity she finishes in eight hours. Her reported basis of payment (Field#45) should be Code 4 – Per day.
