The WTO’s Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) was negotiated during the Uruguay Round. It  contained  intellectual property rules into the multilateral trading system for the first time.

The only services excluded from the scope of the GATS are services provided under governmental authority and sea transport services.

The exceptional growth had been observed when WTO started to roll out.

The Doha Development Agenda, launched at the 5th WTO Ministerial Conference in Doha, Qatar, in November 2001.

A revised government procurement agreement was adopted at the WTO’s 7th Ministerial Conference that expanded the coverage of the original agreement.
