A building owner who wants to implement KNX in a new building can consult the KNX partner database on the KNX Association website to find certified installation companies nearby.

When finalizing the installation, a polarity check should be carried out on all bus devices.

The standardized bus connector connects a KNX TP device with the bus. In order to avoid confusion, this connector shall however not be used for branching off cables.

A bus overvoltage protector is a secondary lightning protection, the use of which is recommended e.g. together with line couplers.

The protective earth connection to the TP central power supply unit is used to divert possible static charges.

The red/black core pair is used for TP.

Some chokes/power supply units have a reset switch by means of which it is possible to short-circuit the bus line. This will cause the connected bus devices to be reset.

A filter table can be loaded in all coupler types, be it line -/backbone couplers or line repeaters.

The difference between a TP line coupler and a line repeater is the housing.

If a telegram on the main line is sent with the routing counter 0, the installation is operating without any errors.

6 power supply units and 5 line couplers are required in a TP area with five lines and one main line, so that each line can function independently.

A TP line coupler is connected with separate bus connectors both to the primary as well as the secondary side.

A TP main line within an area can contain a maximum of 256 bus devices including the mounted line couplers.

A bus power down in only one line has an effect on all the other lines when this power down lasts longer than five minutes.

If a TP backbone coupler receives a telegram with the routing counter 0 from its primary side, it only routes it if the group address is located in its filter table.

In an installation with a loop between lines or line segments, a telegram with routing counter 6 will circulate eternally.

A maximum of 128 sensors, actuators, line and backbone couplers can be connected to a TP main line.

A backbone coupler has the following individual address: x.0.0 (x is value between 1 and 15).
