Quotation Marks - Practice

Quotation marks are punctuation marks used to indicate the exact words someone said.

We use quotation marks to show direct speech or to highlight specific phrases.

You place the question inside quotation marks and include a question mark at the end, e.g., "Are you coming?"

Miles shouted, "Let's go outside!"

Jack said, "Wait for me after school."

The comma goes inside the quotation marks, e.g., "It's a nice day," she said.

Sadie replied, "It smells wonderful!"

I replied. "i won't need a jacket."

Place the period inside the quotation marks, e.g., "I love ice cream."

Use single quotation marks for the inner quote, e.g., "He said, 'Hello!'"
