The main argument of an essay. All of the reasons and evidence support the claim. Sometimes called the thesis.

An argument that is generally true but has some exceptions. It can be used to express a writer's opinion when they're not completely on one side of an argument, but somewhere in the middle.

Reasoning and evidence that attempts to disprove or point out weaknesses in the counterclaim

When a writer repeats a key word or phrase to emphasize an important idea or create a transition between sentences or paragraphs.
