ASND Scene 3

Stanley is depicted as losing during the poker game, which reflects his vulnerability and sets the stage for his aggressive behavior later.

Stanley reacts aggressively by whacking Stella's thigh, showcasing his dominance and lack of respect for her wishes.

Speaking 'quietly and lovingly' to the men does not characterize Stanley; he is portrayed as aggressive and animalistic.

Blanche expresses multiple fears, including being terrified, not being used to violence, and not being properly dressed.

Blanche's name means 'white woods,' symbolizing purity and innocence.

The poker game symbolizes the struggle for power, with Stanley asserting dominance over the other characters, particularly Stella and Blanche.

Violence is a recurring theme, illustrating the toxic masculinity and the breakdown of relationships, particularly between Stanley and Stella.

Blanche clings to illusions and a romanticized view of life, while Stanley represents harsh reality and pragmatism.

Stella's loyalty to Stanley, despite his abusive behavior, highlights the complexities of love and dependency in toxic relationships.

The poker game setting creates an atmosphere of competition and aggression, heightening the tension between the characters.
