There are eight different parts of speech

NOUNS

• A noun is a word that names a person, place, thing, or idea.

PRONOUNS

• Ms. Yother was sitting at Ms. Yother's kitchen table when Ms. Yother's dog jumped up on Ms. Yother's leg and asked Ms. Yother to let her out.

• A pronoun replaces other nouns (in this case Ms. Yother) so that your sentence does not become repetitive.

ADJECTIVES

• Adjectives tell us about nouns. They DESCRIBE nouns.

• Adjectives answer three different questions:

•        What kind?
