A note from Mrs. Taylor
Algebra 2 is basically a Junior level course. At this age, I run my class and treat my students as “pre-college students”. This means that, while we still need to follow the rules of Harper Woods High School, I have high expectations for you, such as behaving correctly and responsibly. In addition to educating you in Algebra 2 content, I hope to also teach you some basic, adult life-skills, such as timeliness (for yourself and your work), resourcefulness, stick-to-it-iveness, preparedness, and professionalism.

Open Ended
Which one of these five items are going to be a challenge for you this year? What can Mrs. Taylor do to help?

Grading
(Unless otherwise specified!)
11
How you will earn your grade
** please note, at this time, there is no plan to have a "cumulative" final exam. Rather, you will have a unit test to end the semester, but that will count toward your 2nd quarter grade.
12
Student Work
*Online work (Khan Academy, IXL, etc.) is graded differently than work done on paper, but will be included in the “Student Work” grading category.
13
Student Work (con't)
Every question correct in Khan Academy earns ½ point for the assignment. Please redo Khan assignments until you earn the score you want!
IXL assignments will be graded out of 8 points, where a SmartScore of 80 equals 8/8 (100%). If you earn a SmartScore of 92, that will be 9.2/8 in MiStar (115%).
Most online assignments will also have a reflection/extension question that will also be worth a point or two, and/or notes that will need to be submitted.
These grading policies may change as Mrs. Taylor learns more about how students are utilizing these online platforms. Any changes in grading policies will be posted.
