Dear Parents and/or Guardians,
Welcome to the 2025-2026 school year. My name is Dr. Gordon Gainer and I teach Honors Physics and Earth Systems & Sustainability at Albert Einstein High School. I am looking forward to getting to know my students and their families. Like bicycling, science is difficult to learn, but fun after you learn it. Science skills can help students to obtain easy, high-paying, secure jobs. In fact, President Obama said that for every job, we have an average of four applicants; but for every four technical jobs, we have one applicant. Science also improves students’ thinking ability and knowledge, which help in many areas of life. Unfortunately, some students converse idly or play on their cell phones, instead of focusing on classwork.

Other students, say it is acceptable for them to do the same, because they “are not the only one.” Please discuss with your child the importance of focusing on science, despite what other students may do. If you have any questions, please email me at gordon.gainer@mcpsmd.org. You can see your child’s attendance and grades in Synergy, our online database. To use this website, click here. When using this for the first time, select Request Account Activation at the bottom and follow the directions. If your child borrows a textbook, it must be returned at the end of the school year to avoid a fine of the book price.
