Objective

  • KWBAT complete a sprint, calculate their growth, and explain the importance of fluency in meeting their math goals.

3

Why is this important?

It is important to be able to do and understand mental math. There will be times when you are at a store, gas station, or restaurant and you will have to quickly identify if you were overcharged, how to calculate a good amount to tip ect.

YOU HAVE TO THINK FAST TO MOVE FAST

4

THINGS TO REMEMBER

  • You do NOT have to stack numbers in order to solve a multiplication problem

  • Multiplication and division go hand in hand, meaning you can use them both to solve a problem or to work backwards

  • When multiplying 3 or more numbers, number placement doesn't matter.

  • Multiplication is repeated addition!
