Before we move past solving by factoring, we're going to review and quiz on factoring! 

GCFs-Always Check First!

• Your Factoring notes say step 1 is always look for a GCF to make factoring easier! 

• Check if all the terms have an x or a number you can divide out as the first factor

• Make sure you're comfortable with checking numerical factors! (2=even, 3=??, etc.) 

Multiple Choice

What is the GCF of: 6x²+18x-27?

• 3

Remember: Order of Factors DOESN'T MATTER!

You can have (x+1)(x-2) or (x-2)(x+1), both will multiply to x^2 -x -2! 

What if I have a BRAIN CRAMP?!

• Remember, when you have multiple choice answers, you can work backwards! 

• You're given the answer choices, so you just multiply the factors using the area model and the right answer creates the original quadratic! 

Special Case #1: Factor in wrong order: 6-x-2x^2

• (x+2)(x-2)

• (2+x)(2-x)

• 4(x+1)(x-2)

Special Case #2: Difference of Squares 16x^2 - 49
