Place Value

Our place value system is broken up into  sections called periods. Each period contains 3 place values. We learned about  periods through the  billions. We also discussed how to convert between place value and how to compare the same digit within a number. Remember, there is a 10 to 1 relationship between each consecutive place value. For example, it takes ten 1s to to equal  ten. It takes ten 10s to equal 100. It takes ten 100s to equal 1,000. This pattern continues throughout our place value system.
