Example: The girl ran down the street.

Compound Sentences

Example: The girl ran down the street, and her brother followed her.

Complex Sentences

• A dependent clause and and independent clause

• Because she ran away, her mother was worried.

Compound - Complex Sentences

• A compound sentence joined with a complex sentence 

• Example: Because the children ran away, their mother was worried and their dad went after them in the car.
