Type 1 includes metals from groups 1 and 2 and Ag, Zn, Al, Cd

These metals only make ions of one specific charge.

An easier way to write these formulas is the Criss Cross method. The charges of each ion is crossed over and made into a subscript for the other. The video on the next slide illustrates this method.
