Course Synopsis

This course is designed to expose students to the basic concepts, principles, theories, models and regulation of businesses using franchise system. Students will be engaged in discussing the process of identifying, evaluating and selecting a viable and sustainable franchise business opportunity, evaluating and selecting a good franchisor, preparing of self to become a franchisee, legal concern of franchising, and preparing a franchise business plan. The operational and strategic approaches to managing a franchise business by franchisee for sustainability and growth will also be discussed.

• Assignment 1 10%

• Assignment 2 20%

• Midterm 20%

• Final 40%

• Quiz - Quiz(s) based on several topics chosen for each quiz. The date and time taken for the quiz will be inform later.

• Assignment 1 (Individual) - Look out for 5 homegrown franchise business in Malaysia. Describe its nature of business.

• Report (Individual)- Make a report based on a chosen franchise business in Malaysia.

• Midterm (Take home examination)

• Final (Take home examination)

• Remarks : All report and assignments should be submitted according to the date as instructed . Full submission must be send to lecturer's email.
