Distribution of Fossils
Distribution of Glacier Deposits
Archian Rock Distribution
Mountain Ranges
Coal Deposits Across Continents
3
Multiple Choice
What evidence did Wegener use in his Continental Drift theory?
Continents and fossils fitting together/matching-up like puzzle pieces
Plant and animal fossils
mountain ranges and coal deposits line up across continents
all of the above

Multiple Choice
Glacier grooves are an example of climate change evidence because?
glacial grooves are found in Antarctica today and it is cold
glacial grooves are found in the warm areas today, so it means that continent used to be near the poles
glacial grooves are found in the cold today and it is closer to the poles
glacial grooves are found in the warm areas because there was an ice age and continents were never together
6
Multiple Choice
Coral reefs and coal-forming swamps are found in tropical and subtropical environments, but ancient coal seams and coral reefs are found in locations where it is much too cold today. What does it suggest?
Wegener suggested that these creatures were alive in warm climate zones and that the fossils and coal later had drifted to new locations on the continents.
The distribution of coal deposits is uneven around the world.
The Earth must have gone through a global warming in the past, creating tropical and subtropical climates in places, which are cold now.

How are the convection tube from Station 3 and the Lava Lamp similar? Explain in a paragraph. Do not press ENTER.
22
Convection current in the mantle is caused by the heat moving up from the core. The warmer, less dense rock material near the core slowly moves upward. Relatively cooler rock from higher in the mantle slowly sinks toward the mantle. As the warmer material rises, it also cools, eventually pushed aside by warmer rising material and sinking back toward the core.
