Fraction --> Decimal

  • If your fraction can easily be changed into an equivalent fraction with a base ten denominator (10; 100; 10,000; etc.) THEN

  • Find an equivalent fraction with a base ten denominator.

  • Your numerator becomes the decimal number.

  • The decimal place counts one place to the left for each zero in the denominator

  •  Ex:  725  > 28100  > 0.28Ex:\ \ \frac{7}{25}\ \ ->\ \frac{28}{100}\ \ ->\ 0.28  

  •  Ex: 18 > 1251000 > 0.125Ex:\ \frac{1}{8}\ ->\ \frac{125}{1000}\ ->\ 0.125
