Today's Lesson

Learning Purpose:

Evaluate the impact of technologies to run a HPE lesson

Success Criteria:

Know the 5 elements of RE-AIM

Have run the lesson autonomously

3

What is today about?

In order to meet the learning purpose for today, you must follow the slides as closely as possible in order to finish the lesson and determine if it is possible to run a lesson using technology.

You will learn about about your organisation skills, communication skills and leadership skills (this will help with your assignment when delivering your action strategy).

Most importantly, you will learn about the evaluation tool called RE-AIM, that you will use to evaluate your action strategy.

4

RE-AIM

RE-AIM has five (5) elements to it, which helps you determine the impact or success of an action strategy or program.

In order to evaluate using RE-AIM, you must plan what data to collect before you run the action strategy. This is so you can collect data before, during and after the action strategy.

5

Expect questions!

Throughout the lesson, you will be quizzed.

So pay attention and read carefully!

6

The 5 Elements of RE-AIM

  • (R)each - who are you trying to reach?

  • (E)ffectiveness - did you have the outcomes you wanted?

  • (A)doption - did the individual or group accept and take on the action strategy?

  • (I)mplementation - was the action strategy implemented or delivered the way it was intended?

  • (M)aintenance - can the action strategy be maintained over time?

7

Multiple Choice

Which RE-AIM element determines if the action strategy was delivered the way it was supposed to be?

1

Reach

2

Effectiveness

3

Adoption

4

Implementation

5

Maintenance

8

Multiple Choice

Which RE-AIM element shows whether there were positive or negative outcomes?

1

Reach

2

Effectiveness

3

Adoption

4

Implementation

5

Maintenance

9

Multiple Choice

Your teacher is collecting data on how many people accessed this presentation, which element of RE-AIM is this?

1

Reach

2

Effectiveness

3

Adoption

4

Implementation

5

Maintenance

10

How I am evaluating this lesson for each element of RE-AIM

  • (R)each - number of students using phones to access the Quiziz

  • (E)ffectivness - pre and post questionnaire/poll

  • (A)doption - teacher observing and journalling how well you engaged with this lesson

  • (I)mplementation - feedback and journalling about QUIZIZ and any issues/how the technology worked

  • (M)aintenance - reflection on if it can be done again

11

(E)ffectiveness data

To determine the (E)ffectiveness of using technology to run the lesson, I need to determine how well you think this class will run.

The following questions will give me the "before" results to see if the "after" results improved.

If they improve, it means using technology to run the class was effective. If the results were worse or didn't change, it means technology was not effective at running the class.

17

Let's get started!

18

Instructions:

  • Get into four (4) even groups

  • Each group puts on a different coloured sash

  • Set up two small football fields by dividing one touch field into two. Use two agility poles at each end of the fields create the goals. Use markers around the outside of the fields (use two different colours).

  • One football per field

19

Games:

  • Two groups verse each other on each field

  • Each game will be 10 minutes long, with a 3 minute drink break in between.

  • Each team must verse each other once.

  • Nominate someone to be in charge of timing each game

  • Rules must be safe and fair - you are all refereeing yourselves

20

Game on!

Don't continue until all games are finished.

21

End of lesson reflection and evaluation.

22

Evaluating

As mentioned at the beginning of the lesson, you must complete before and after questions to determine the effectivness of your action strategy and plan for how you will collect data on each element of RE-AIM.

Complete the remaining questions.
