These are questions words.

They are used at the beginning of a question.

6 interrogativas

• ¿Quién? = who?

• ¿Qué? = what?

• ¿Cuándo? = when?

• ¿Dónde? = where?

• ¿Por qué? = why?

• ¿Cómo? = how?

• *¿Cuánto(s)? = how many?

IMPORTANTE

Note that ALL interrogativas in Spanish have accent marks on them

Using interrogativas to ask questions

Interrogativas are used at the beginning of a sentence to ask a question.

Normally when you ask a question you use this formula:

¿interrogativa + verb + details?

¿Qué + es + el color de la camisa? = What is the color of the shirt?
