What is a topic sentence?

A topic sentence is the most important sentence in a paragraph. 

A topic sentence essentially tells readers what the rest of the paragraph is about

Why do we use topic sentences?

They are used to link an essay prompt to a specific reason. You created three reasons in your pros and cons list. Each of these reasons would be a separate topic sentence.
