Explicit and Implicit Verbal Signals

  • Speakers use order markers, "first, then, last". They also use transitions signals, "at this moment, we will move on, on the other hand". These are what we call explicit signals.

  • Implicit signals are the changes in the features, like volume and stress.

  • Both explicit and implicit signals are useful for notes organization.
