Grammar: Causative Passive
- Causative passive is a structure in English.
- We use it to denote that something is done by someone else.
- In Spanish, we don't have the causative passive.
- Example in Spanish: Me corté el pelo
- Did you cut your hair by yourself?
- In English, I can't say I cut my hair...
- What other expressions in Spanish can you think of?
7
What do we do in English?
We use causative verbs such as: have and get.
Instead of I cut my hair
"I had my hair cut"
"I got my hair cut"
Structure: Subject+causative verb+object+verb
The verb can go either in past, future, present perfect.
It depends on the original verb.
