How to add signed numbers?

In adding signed numbers follow these rules:

• Case 1: When adding like sign, get the sum and copy the common sign.

• Case 2: When adding unlike sign, get the difference and copy the sign of the greater absolute value integer.

Adding like sign

• Example 1:

   $2+5=7$  

• Example 2:  $\left(-2\right)+\left(-5\right)=-7$  

• Example 3:  $\left(+11\right)+\left(+9\right)=+20$
