Muslims Conquer India:

• Muslims reached the Indus Valley during the year 711.

• The conquest stopped into the continent and was revived again around the year 1000 when Muslims Turks together with the Afghans mingled further and reached into India.

• Lead by the sultan Mahmoud of Ghazni the courageous muslims controlled most of the north area.

Beginning of the muslim civilization in India:

• In the year 1100, the new sultan and a muslim leader, conquered the Northern Plains and declared Delhi as the new capital.

• The muslims defeated the Hindus army since they were much more mobile and able to control the battlefield.

• Many of the Hindus converted into Islam.

• The Delhi sultanate which lasted from 1206 to 1526 marked the era of the muslims civilization in the region.

Effects of the Islamic civilization:

• Turks, Persians, and Arabs migrated to India and became important officials who occupied high posts in the government.

• Greek and Persian scholars transmitted their knowledge into the subcontinent.

• Trade increased a lot between the Muslims lands and India.

• Art and architecture flourished in the area.
