2

Starting the Project

I want you to do this in www.photopea.com. However, if you have a preferred program, you are welcome to use that. However, if you have any problems with another program, then try following the directions and doing it in photopea.com.

Download the two pictures that are available in the class site: GroupPhoto_Redeye and Puppy.

3

Import your first picture

If you have not already done so, download the "GroupPhoto_Redeye" picture from the class page.

On the photopea.com website, click on "open from computer."

4

Look at what needs to be edited

Look at the picture "GroupPhoto_Redeye" and you can see the redeye effect on the two guys in the back and the girl on the right hand side of the picture.

These are the only changes for now.

5

Find the Red Eye Tool

Looking on your Toolbar, you will see a tool called "Spot Healing Brush Tool," Click on it and hold your mouse down. It will open a Window with five tools to choose from. Choose the "Red Eye Tool"

Slide image

6

Zoom In

Using the zoom tool, near the bottom of the tool bar, zoom into the pictuer so you can see the eyes you want to get the red eye out of . This will be the two guys and the girl to the right.

Slide image

7

Change the Pixel Size

When you have selected the "Red Eye Tool" the pixel size will automatically be "15." Since that is probably bigger than the persons eye. Change the pixels to "5" and click on the red eyes of each person.

8

After Using the Red Eye Tool, the eyes will look odd as all you did was take out the contrast of the red.

Slide image

9

Push the Ctrl and - key at the same time and this will zoom you out of the picture. Now when you look at the picture, the eyes look more natural.

10

Ready for Part 2

Now we are ready to take the other picture and add it to the first picture. Time to open the Puppy picture in Photopea

11

After you open the second file, you will see that there are two tabs that you can change between the files at the top left.

Slide image

12

On the tool bar on the left side, click and hold down on the "Lasso tool." You see there are three Lasso tools, the Lasso Select, the Polygonal Lasso Select, and the Magnetic Lasso Select. We will use the Magnetic Lasso Select.

Slide image

13

Click on any spot along the dog follow the curve of the dog around. The Magnetic Lasso Select will keep the selection near the body of the dog. If it starts to pull away, back up and click near the dog, then start moving again.

Slide image

14

As you follow the body of the dog around, you will see the selection build (the marching arts line) and the dog is selected. When finished copy the dog selection (Ctrl + C or Edit/Copy)

Slide image

15

Go to the first tab, the "GroupPhoto_Redeye" and past the picture of the dog. To paste (hit Ctrl + V or edit/paste). You will see on the right side of the screen there is now two layers. Also, notice the dog picture is much bigger than the group photo.

Slide image

16

Move the picture of the dog down slightly, so that you can see the edge of the picture. Click on edit in the menu bar and choose "Free Transform"

Slide image

17

When you chose the Free Transform, the edges of the picture will be visible. Click on the edge and hold down the shift key as you drag the picture to make it smaller.

Slide image

18

You will probably need to move the dog back up a couple of times as you drag the edge down, to ensure the dog gets small enough to fit on the group picture and looks appriate.

Slide image

19

Keep resizing the puppy and then move it to the location you want it. Put it anywhere on the sidewalk you want it.

Slide image

20

Make sure you are on the same layer as the puppy. Then click on Image/Adjustments/Contrast/Brightness.

Slide image

21

Adjust the Brightness/Contrat until the puppy looks proper in the picture.

Slide image

22

After you have adjusted how the puppy looks to fit into the picture, click on File/Export As/Jpg and click Save, it will download to your computer.

Slide image

23

Submit the completed photo for a grade.
