Obj: Students will be able to use comparatives and superlatives adjectiveS in order to complete some sentences.

Comparative adjective
We use comparative adjectives to show change or make comparisons: I'm feeling happier now.
We need a bigger garden.
We use than when we want to compare one thing with another: He is a better player than Ronaldo.
France is a bigger country than Britain.

Short adjectives ( one Syllable)
Old - Older
Slow - Slower
Cheap - Cheaper
Big - Bigger
Large - Larger
Nice - Nicer
- Rome is old but Athens is older. Sue wants to buy a bigger car.

Long adjectives (two, three, four syllables) we use MORE before the adjective
Modern = more modern
Polite = more polite
Tired = more tired
Interesting = more interesting
Expensive = more expensive
I don´t like this house. I prefer more modern houses.
Is it more expensive to go by car or by train?

Irregulars comparatives
Good (bueno ) - Better
Well (bien) - Better
Bad (malo) - Worse (peor)
Badly (mal) - Worse ( peor )
Far ( lejano) - Further ( más lejano)
The weather wasn´t very good yesterday but it´s better today.

Adjectives ending in Y (normally 2 syllables)
Easy - easier
Heavy - heavier
Early- earlier
. The bag is heavy but the suitcase is heavier.

Superlatives adjectives
. We use the before the adjective
. The adjectives with one syllable (short adjective) end in EST
Old- the oldest
cheap - the cheapest
Nice- the nicest
.The adjectives with more than one syllables you have to write the most before the adjective
modern- the most modern
interesting- the most interesting
. The adjectives ending in Y
easy - the easiest
heavy - the heaviest
pretty - the prettiest
