  • Collecting unemployment benefits based on false, misreported, or unreported information to the state is considered fraud. Claimants are legally responsible to follow the requirements set by state law.

  • Demand for repayment, collection efforts and garnishment of future benefits and wages are just some of the consequences

  • Penalties can also include criminal prosecution including but not limited to serving time in jail.
