Simple past

Use:

Use the past simple to talk about finished events in the past. Use it to tell stories, jokes and anecdotes.

In simple past we have the regular verbs and the irregular verbs.

Past simple verbs are the same for all persons.

I went; you went; he went; she went; they went; we went...  

We use did to make a question in the past tense. This is for regular AND irregular verbs in English. ... The auxiliary DID shows that the question is in the past tense.

Interrogative Structure

To form interrogative sentences in simple past we need to use the following structure:

Did + subject + verb in present tense + complement + ?
