English Line

  • lines are created by a consistent pattern of rhythm and rhyme.

  • specifically a group of words arranged into a number of row(s).

  • that have a certain number of syllables, or of metrical feet (beat) or so that they rhyme. 

  • The poet has chosen to make the line a certain length, or to make the line-break at a certain point.

ASL LINE

  • We use a visual sign break to end a "line"

  • It’s the pause of the end of your line, rhyme or thought before you start again.

  • In ASL a line is also a predictable pattern of signs that may include specific rhyming 

  • It can also sometimes be a patterned rhythm of movements and holds.

ENGLISH METER

  • the basic rhythmic structure of a verse or lines in verse.

  • Counting the syllables that are accented

  • Haiku: 5.7.5 syllables per line

  • Green and speckled legs,

    Hop on logs and lily pads

    Splash in cool water.

  • Every stanza in a poem has its own concept and serves a unique purpose

  •  A stanza may be arranged according to rhyming patterns and meters—the syllabic beats of a line.
