History of ISLS

  • 2002 - established as a non-profit professional society by Chris Hoadley, Janet Kolodner, and Tim Koschmann with the goal of uniting the work of Journal of Learning Sciences, International Conferences of the Learning Sciences (ICLS), and the Computer-Supported Collaborative Learning Conferences (CSCL)

  • 2003 - Elected Board of Directors and President had first meeting

  • 2003-2004 - Society's first year; CSCL Community Committee was formed to integrate different parts of ISLS

  • July 2004 - First ISLS Newsletter published

  • December 2004 - JLS acquired as an official journal

  • March 2005 - ijCSCL acquired as an official journal
