Tense of verbs

Verb tense is made by adding -ed or -ing. In some cases, verbs are irregular

Example:

play --> played (past) --> playing (present)

eat --> ate --> eaten (past) --> eating (present)

Transitive vs Intransitive verb

• Transitive: expresses action to something (has a direct object). The action of the verb needs to be transferred

  Miss Tronoski teaches her students.

• Intransitive: does not express action to someone or something. The action does not need to be done.

• Passive Voice: the subject is acted on by the verb--Usually has a to be verb near it

• To be Verbs: am, is, was, were, have been, has been
