Advice to write an article

  • Begin the article with a question to get the reader's attention

  • Use direct questions to connect with the reader of your articel

  • Think about how you can structure the main part of your article. You can use a sequence of events or you could compare an contrast ideas***

  • Use linking words to guide the reader

  • Be as objective as possible

  • Use comment adverbs to show your opinions

  • Summarise the experience or ideas and evaluate them

22

***You can organise your article with the following structure

23

First paragraph

In your first one or two sentences tell who, what, when, where and why. Try to hook your reader by beginning with a funny, clever or surprising statement.

Or you can begin your artcile with a question or a provocative statement

24

Second / Third / Fourth ... paragraphs

Give the reader the details. Include on or two quotes from the person that you interviewed. Write in the third person (he, she, it).

Be objective, never state your opinion. Use quotes to express others'opinions.

25

Last paragraph

Wrap it up somehow (don't leave the reader hanging. Don't say "In conclusion" or "To finish" it's overused)

Try ending with a catchy phrase.

26

Additional advice

-Watch the interview again, take notes, write down quotes.

-Use active words (verbs that show what's really happening)

-Tell the interesting information first.
