• The Abbasid power started declining.

• Caliph's power became limited.

• Arab leaders lost control over vast lands of the Islamic Empire.

• The Abbasid Caliph remained only as a figurehead.

• By the year 1055 A.D, a Seljuk Turk sultan and other Turks settles in Baghdad and took over the reign.

Important Figures:

• Ibn Rushd: believed that everything should be proved through reason except for the Holy Quran.

• Ibn Khaldoun: set the basis for scientific studies of history.
