Different types of heart rates

  • Resting Heart Rate – your heart rate when you are inactive or resting; generally calculated before you get out of bed.

  • Maximum Heart Rate – the fastest your heart can beat in one minute

  • Active Heart Rate/Target Heart Rate – range of heart beats during exercise that is most optimal for your health. Typically 60%-80% of your maximum heart rate.  The average Target HR for teens is between 120 bpm – 160 bpm.
