The diminutive sprinter who is nicknamed the ‘Pocket Rocket’, became the first woman to win the 100 metres at four World Championships. In 2008, she was conferred with the Order of Distinction, Officer Class by the Government of Jamaica. In 2008, she also received the Prime Minister’s Youth Award for excellence in Sports. In 2010, she was named the 1st UNICEF Goodwill Ambassador for Jamaica. In that year, she was also named the Grace Goodwill Ambassador for Peace. In September 2014, the Prime Minister of Jamaica conferred her with the title of Ambassador at Large for Jamaica.

Jamaica's number one female sprinter of all time, Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce, had the honour of unveiling her own statue alongside Prime Minister Andrew Holness and Minister of Sports Olivia Grange at Statue Park inside Independence Park on Sunday. Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce stands tall among those Jamaicans who, by sheer talent, unbridled energy, tenacity and persistence, have indeed brought glory to our country and astonished the world.

In 2013 in Kingston, Fraser-Pryce launched the Pocket Rocket Foundation, through her foundation, SFP hopes to secure sponsorship to offer etiquette and diction seminars for all athletes at the junior and senior level to facilitate and stimulate confidence building seminars with regards to international media interviews of Jamaica's athletes representing at the national level to further boost Brand Jamaica in the area of Track and Field.
