When you use your voice to make a sentence sound like a question.
For example: Tu aimes le chocolat?
(You go up in pitch when you say «chocolat».)

Inversion is when you switch the subject and the verb so that the verb comes first and then the subject (pronoun). You must place a hyphen between the verb and the subject! «Do» or «does» is implied if your question is in the present tense.
Exemple: Aimes-tu le chocolat ?

This expression just tells the reader or listener that you are asking a question. It doesn't actually have a literal translation but we often translate it as "do" or "does" (though this can change depending on the tense → past, present, future).
Example: Est-ce que tu aimes le chocolat → Do you like chocolate?
