A Quick Review

Integers are ...

positive and negative whole numbers

{...-3, -2, -1, 0, 1, 2, 3, ...}

The Integers can be visualized with the number line.

As you move to the left, the numbers get smaller.

As you move right, the numbers get bigger

A useful way to think of it:

Negative numbers are to the left, so minus means "go left".

Positive numbers are to the right, so plus means "go right".

Adding numbers with the same sign

• Add the numbers and keep the sign

Example:

+2+5=+7

-2+-5=-7

is the same as

-2-5=-7
