Who is at Risk?

Your Risk Assessment will ask 'who is at risk' of the hazards.

- Who is most likely to get injured?

- Participants?

- Coaches?

- Spectators?

- Public?


You will need to decide for each Hazards who are the most likely to get injured

1) Open the Risk Assessment Template

2) List the hazards in the first column (6 in total, ensure minimum of one from each category

3) Identify the Risks

4) Identify who is at Risk from the Hazard

5) If photos weren't taken last week, watch the RA work through

6) You have 15 minutes to complete this

Risk Score Calculation

  • Severity x Likelihood = Risk Score

  • Severity (5) x Likelihood (1) = Risk Score (5)

  • This process is undertaken for each hazard on your form.

Control Measures

Control measures are actions taken to reduce the potential risk of the hazard or remove the hazard completely.

The concept of a control measure is to maintain the activity but ensure the activity is as safe as possible

  • Open the exemplar risk assessment for your sport and review their hazards, scoring and control measures.

  • Score your hazards & risks based on the table above

  • Create control measures of what you (the coaches) will do to reduce the hazard score or risk score or both.

  • Create a new risk score

  • Email your tutor the completed draft risk assessment.

  • 15 minutes to complete this task

Break Time

Once you have revisited your flipgrid form and wrote specific examples you can copy/demonstrate you can have another break. Back in 10 minutes (flipgrid forms will be shared at the end of the lesson)

Session Planning

  • Break off in to your break out rooms

  • Nominated individuals start the calls and others join

  • Review your NOP & EAP making sure the information is correct (revisit week 12 slides if not)

  • Create your first session ready to be delivered

  • Tutors will be dropping in to your calls to check progress

  • Tutors will tell you when you can leave/the lesson has finished.
