Today, we will learn how to tell these two sentence types apart and review Subjects and Predicates!
Before we get to that, let's review Subject/Verb Agreement with fun examples!!!

Simple Sentences
All sentences have a SUBJECT and a PREDICATE (everything that isn't the subject).
Simple sentences are also known as INDEPENDENT clauses.
They can stand on their own.

Compound Sentences
Compound sentences have TWO independent clauses joined by a comma and FANBOYS (for, and, nor, but, or, yet, so).
You cannot SLAP two sentences together. That is known as a run-on.
The independent clauses you connect must make sense when you put them together.
Weird but helpful concept:

Let's say you're dealing with this:
Jorge went to the movies and saw the new horror film!
We gave Kimberly money to buy pumpkins, grape soda, and tuna.
The teacher asked the class to be honest so we had to fess up.

Here are the corrected versions:
Jorge went to the movies, and he saw the new horror film!
