Addition Property of Equality

  • States that 2 sides of an equation stay equal when the same amount is added to both sides of the equation.

  • Example: (5+3)+2=8 +2

  • states that when you subtract the same amount from both sides of an equation, the two sides of the equation stay equal

  • Example: 5+3=8

  • 5+3-2=8-2

  • states that when you multiply the same amount from both sides of an equation, the two sides of the equation stay equal

  • Example: 5+3=8
