What is a sentence?
A sentence is a group of words that express a complete thought.

Each sentence has a subject part and a predicate part.
The subject names whom or what the sentence is about
The predicate tells what the subject does or has.
The predicate may also tell what the subject is or is like.

We ran around the house.

There are four types of sentences.
Declarative- Makes a statement: I am going to the store.
Interrogative- Asks a question: What time does the game start?
Exclamatory- Expresses a strong emotion: I can't wait for Christmas Break!
Imperative- Gives a command or makes a request: Go get the bandaids from the closet.

What is a sentence fragment?
A sentence fragment is a group of words that lacks either a subject, a predicate, or both.
A fragment does NOT express a complete thought.
