Vocabulary

Measure of Variation is a measure that describes the distribution of a data set. A simple measure of variation to find is the range.

The range of the data set is the difference between the greatest value and the least value.

Open Ended

What do you think the teacher meant when she stated that the quiz scores range from 75% to 96%?

EXAMPLE

Step 1. Place the data set in order from least to greatest.

Step 2. Subtract the greatest from the least value number.

Difference means subtraction.
