- The term time zone can be used to describe several different things, but mostly it refers to the local time of a region or a country.

A time zone is a region with a standard time throughout that is used for all social, commercial and legal purposes within that region. The Earth is loosely divided into 24 regions (time zones) separated by longitude.​

The Prime Me​ridian is dividing our planet on Eastern (+ time zones from 1-12) and Western Hemisphere (- time zone from 1-12). There are 360 degrees of Longitude. The space between meridians is 4 minutes. Let's do the Math calculation:
