Uses of Ser

• Use ser to identify people and things.

• Ser also expresses possession with preposition "de".

• When "de" is followed by the article "el", the two combine to form the contraction "del".

• "De" doesn't contract with la, las, or los.

• Use "ser" to express occupation/ profession.

• Ser also uses the preposition "de" to express origin.

• Yo soy means I am

• Tu eres means you are

• El/ella/ud es means he/she is

• nosotros/as somos means we are

• vosotros sois means you all are

• Ellos/as means son means they are

• Yo soy alta (I am tall)

• Ella es mi hermana (She is my sister)
